NAFDAC Arrested Man For Producing And Selling Fake Injection Water

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested one Mr Obinna Chigbo in Gusau, Zamfara, for producing fake injection water.

Mr. Hamis Yahaya, the state's NAFDAC Coordinator, made the announcement while speaking to reporters in Gusau on Thursday.
"The suspect was arrested on Monday in a one-bedroom apartment at Yarhanya of Tudunwada area in Gusau metropolis," Yahaya said.

"The suspects were producing untreated borehole water without any form of sedimentation, filtration, or other filtration," he said.

"We seized eight bags of fake products, each bag containing 100 bags of the product; he sells each package for N500; the product is valued at N400,000."

"We also seized a local electrical stove that he was using to seal the products."

"We intended to reach the state Ministry of Health so that they, in turn, could reach their doctors in order to stop its spread," he added.

He urged the people of the state to be vigilant, saying, "If you see something, say something."

"You report to the appropriate authorities if you see any notorious person producing illegal product in your area."

"As members of the general public, you do not remain silent on issues that affect your lives," he advised.

While speaking with reporters, the suspects stated that he got involved in the illegal business to make a living.

"I'm sorry I joined the company. I joined it not to be happy, but to provide for my family.

"I've been producing and selling the product for four years." I used to sell the product in Dansadau, Magami, and Talata Mafara." Said the suspect.
