Osinbajo Unveils Dorian Home - Africa's Biggest Orphanage Home In Ondo (Pictures)
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
dedicated Africa's Biggest and Finest Orphanage Home, Dorian Home, in Ondo
State yesterday, Thursday, October 14, 2021.
Dr. Lola Bayode, a Nigerian doctor from Ondo State, built the Orphanage Home.
During the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Osinbajo called for the aid of orphans across the country, stating that there is a need to serve humanity.
Osinbajo stated that a child's future greatness is not determined by his or her status as an orphan.
He stated
that many great men in Nigeria and around the world are orphans, emphasizing
the importance of assisting children in orphanages.
He claims that the number of widows and orphans in Nigeria has increased as a result of insecurity issues such as violence and clashes in many parts of the country.
"We are confronted with a huge challenge," Osinbajo said. The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development estimated in 2015 that there were approximately 17.5 million orphans and vulnerable children in a country of approximately 200 million people.
That equates to nearly 9% of the population.
Unfortunately, this number has risen over the years as a result of violence, conflicts, and communal clashes in various parts of the country.
"There are a large number of widows and vulnerable women, and the number has grown as a result of conflicts in various parts of the country."
